Employers, do you need summer workers?
A joint operation between the Mississippi Department of Human Services and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security is providing paid workers through September 30, 2010 for businesses in the area. To participate, contact the Pearl WIN Job Center at 601-321-5441.
Your job: Provide supervised, meaningful work experience for young adults who meet low income guidelines that will:
(1) Provide eligible young adults (18-24) with exposure to the world of supervised work;
(2) Mentor and enhance the citizenship of young adults;
(3) Train and coach the workers in workplace rules, safety, skills and teamwork;
(4) Evaluate the workers’ behavior and performance.
The Program will:
(1) Pay the workers at $8.00 per hour for not more than 40 hours and not less than 32 hours per week to a maximum of 320 hours for the duration of the program;
(2) Provide an orientation to the program for your supervisors and the workers;
(3) Recruit and match the workers to the jobs you have available;
(4) Provide Workers Comp coverage.
