Leadership Rankin, facilitated by the Rankin County Chamber of Commerce, began in 1994. The program is celebrating its 23rd year, graduating over 450 leaders of Rankin County. Leadership Rankin develops existing and emerging leaders and is designed to educate participants about Rankin County, while sharpening their leadership skills and connecting them with contacts in our various innovative industries. Participants have gained a better understanding of various aspects of the county including:
- State and Local government
- Public Safety
- Quality of Life
Leadership Rankin is a ten-month program that kicks off with an overnight retreat and has 8 monthly sessions. The program concludes with a graduation celebration. During the program, four individual teams are formed within the group, and each team is responsible for completing a service project that gives back to their community. The project will be presented to and scored by a panel of judges, and the winner is announced during the graduation.
Each year up to twenty-four applicants are selected to participate in the program. Applications are distributed in June of each year and the program runs from August to May.
