The goal of the Rankin Youth Leadership program is to identify and develop a group of young leaders who can impact the future of Rankin County by learning how to assume responsible community leadership roles. We familiarize participants with the community’s opportunities, needs, problems and resources and help the students to establish an effective dialogue and form friendships among participants and community leaders. The class also develops leadership and management skills by providing training in skills such as goal setting, effective communication, decision making, team building, motivation, organization and work ethic development. Sophomore students from every public and private school in Rankin County, as well as home school students are eligable for this program. The selected class begins the program in August of their Junior year and graduates in April.
